Spider Control to Get Rid of Spiders in Your Home

Spider control is part of overall pest management to get rid of the creepy crawlies in and around your home. The most common spider species Croach® technicians handle are black widows, house spiders, yellow sacs, wolf spiders, brown recluse, hobo spiders, and more.

With a few exceptions, spiders are not aggressive to humans. But they will bite if pressed against the skin or if they sense a threat to themselves or their webs. With their bad eyesight, they might mistake you for prey if they are hungry enough.

The Common House Spider

Two species within the Croach® spider pest control area have medically significant bites. Others can cause serious reactions, especially for those with allergies.

All spiders serve a purpose and can be beneficial. Some are very good at eliminating other pests.

Spider Control - Croach - Brown House Spider

The house spider is a common term for spiders that like to live inside. Most of them are orb weavers, creating what most people think of as a spiderweb.

While they are some of the least aggressive spiders, they create large, ugly webs.

And due to ideal conditions, they live inside and grow quite large. Neither, are good for your property value.

The longer they live and the bigger they get, the more likely you are to encounter one in a situation where they bite.

Spiders attract their own predators. These pests will cause damage to the structure of your home.

Why are Spiders Attracted to My Home?

Spider control starts with understanding why they come inside. Spiders are most active from spring to early fall but are a year-round pest.

Seeking Food and Shelter

When it gets too hot or cold outside, they will move inside, accessing your home through tiny entry points. Other inclement weather will also drive them inside.

Spiders enter looking for food and shelter. The cleaner your house the less likely it is to attract other pests that spiders look for.

Clutter such as cardboard, paper, and stacks of cloth that is not moved regularly make enticing breeding grounds.

Foliage and trees around and touching the home are an open invitation.

Prevention Tips

There are some steps you can take to get rid of spiders on your own:

  • Clean regularly
  • Remove excess vegetation
  • Seal entry points
  • Obtain regular, professional spider pest control

Indoor and Outdoor Spider Species

Outdoor Spiders

Spider Control - Croach - Kirkland, WA - Close up of Brown Spider

Some species found in the Croach® service area are considered outdoor species.

Trapdoor spiders and Tarantulas do not like to come inside.

Yellow Sac, Garden Spiders, and Wolf Spiders stay mostly outside but are attracted to dark spaces like attics and crawl spaces.

Indoor Spiders

Spider Control - Croach - Portland, OR - Black Widow Spider in Web

House Spiders, Black Widows, Hobo Spiders, and others are often found inside.

Indoor species live in corners, boxes, or the garage. Most indoor species still flock to quiet, dark, out of the way places.

Make no mistake, given a food source and a place to make their home, any spider will live inside or outside, no matter their preference.

Our Spider Control Process

Spiders are hard to eliminate, and even then, are likely to return. Their resiliency makes ongoing treatment important in keeping them away.

A Thorough and Specialized Approach

  • Inspection:
Your expert inspector will examine the home and create a plan crafted for your needs.
  • Initial Treatment:
Treatment includes a heavy application of product on the base of the home, around entry points, and in the eaves. Our licensed technicians will brush the eaves, eliminating spiderwebs and egg sacs. Inside, the product is applied as necessary, and glue boards are placed to catch stragglers.
  • First Regular, and Ongoing Treatment:
Approximately thirty days after initial treatment you will have seen a reduction in spiders - and the pests they eat - of about 75%. Spiders caught on the boards help technicians further customize your plan to your particular pests. Ongoing treatments are shorter than the initial treatment and eliminate the rest of the problem.
  • Complimentary Retreats:
Should your infestation return, Croach® will come back between regular treatments to resolve the issue and advise on additional steps.

Pest control and prevention techniques are always better than one-time elimination. If you are seeing a lot of spiders or fresh webs, get a free inspection by one of our licensed technicians.
