How to Get Rid of Spiders in Kennewick
The WA Tri-Cities area is not known for having a high population of large and threatening spiders, but that doesn't mean there aren't any. There are quite a few of them up here, and they might end up in your home. Some of the spiders in your Kennewick home are short-term visitors, while others are accidentally trapped inside.
There are many types of spiders, and while they may not all be dangerous, you probably don't want to live with them or among them. Most types of spiders are venomous to an extent; they use poison to incapacitate their prey. The concern is whether a spider is toxic enough to present a risk to humans and pets. That's why you need to get rid of spiders in your Kennewick, WA home.
Thank You for the Peace of Mind!
I want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for the exemplary service provided by Croach. After inspecting our home, Trevor Hopkins, Pest Specialist, showed us, precisely, the issues we faced. Over 400 spiders' nests were in the eves of our home. We're looking at Brown Recluse, Hobo, and other creepy, crawly, and downright scary spiders. He quickly assured us the process to eliminate these and other pests would be painless financially, and, conveniently, and, without health risks. Within an hour of signing the contract with Trevor, Jason Anderson, Service Manger with Croach, arrived with a Technician, and explained, as Trevor did, the services they were going to perform. They were thorough, focused, and incredibly cognizant of our level of comfort while in our home. The job was finished with such efficiency, I couldn't have been more impressed...unless you want to include the manner in which Jason performed his tasks. Any mother would be proud of this young man's forthright and polite nature. Thank you for the peace of mind your service gives me, and, thank you for sending Jason Anderson. He is a very impressive young man, whose integrity will take him, and Croach, very far.
Spider Species in Kennewick
Jumping Spider
There over 300 species of jumping spiders in North America. Incredibly fast and agile, they use their hind legs to jump around when chasing prey, hence the name. They have four pairs of eyes, the most forward pair being the largest, the better to see you with! Some are brightly colored with metallic-colored parts, and others are neutral colored to blend in their natural surroundings. You'll find these small spiders on windowsills, screens, ceilings and exterior walls.
Funnel Weaver Spider
Deriving their name from the distinctive funnel-shaped webs they weave, funnel weaver spiders are prevalent in Kennewick and the larger Tri-Cities area. Also known as grass spiders or house spiders, they may venture into your home in search of prey or mates. You are likely to find their webs in window wells, corners of walls, or under furniture. These spiders prey on household insect pests, but most people prefer that they stay outside in the garden where they help to keep bugs away from the flowers and vegetables.
Yellow Sac Spider
The yellow sac spider is one of the most common spiders in the Tri-Cities area. Yellow sac spiders prefer the outdoors, but they sometimes find a way into your warm home during winter. You might find these small yellow, white or greenish spiders traveling along your walls or ceiling. Note: they don't build webs; they make little silk-like sacs which you might spy in a corner, under a shelf, behind pictures or on windowsills. Yellow sac spiders are known to bite if, for instance, they get trapped between a person's skin and an object, like clothing or furniture.
Black Widow Spider
Black widow spiders can be found in parts of Eastern Washington, such as the Tri-Cities area. They prefer to live in the outdoors but will often get into homes. Black widows are easily identified by their round black bodies, long legs and distinctive red hourglass shape on their underside. Their bites can be severe, but they are not necessarily life-threatening. Nonetheless, nobody wants to play Russian Roulette with a black widow spider.
Spider Bites
Symptoms of a spider bite include the following:
- Itching or rash
- Pain radiating from the bite site
- Muscle pain and cramping
- Reddish to purplish color or bite site blistering
- Increased sweating
- Difficulty breathing
- Headache
- Nausea and vomiting
- Fever and chills
- Anxiety or restlessness
- High blood pressure
Black widow spider bites pose a significant health risk for young children, seniors, and people with high blood pressure or compromised immune systems.
Treatment for Spider Bites
Most spider bites are a minor irritant that can be calmed by:
- washing with soap and warm water
- putting ice on the irritated area to reduce swelling
- elevating the bite area, if possible
To be safe, seek immediate medical attention for any suspected black widow spider bites, or when experiencing allergic reactions such as chest pain, difficulty breathing or swallowing, lightheadedness, fainting, abdominal pain, vomiting, rash, or facial swelling.
The Insects Have Stayed Away!
Croach got rid of black widow egg sacks, 2 brown recluse, wasps and a garter snake in our garage. Great job. Believe it or not, we were under another service provider at the time. Between our 3 month visits the insects have stayed away. Yea!
